Episode 23 Jeff Mortenson
Everybody welcome back to another election episode. Today I interview a gentleman I lived down the street from where I grew up. Jeff Mortenson is a republican running for alderman in Ward 5. In many ways we share similarities. Jeff and I both served active duty in the Air Force. We both work instructing students on Keesler, currently. I went to high school with his boys, Ben and Patrick Mortenson. I even worked with his wife while in the Air Force Reserves.
However, this is the second time I’ve ever spoken to him. I know him the least out of his entire family. By virtue of the house he leads, his wonderful boys and his lovely wife, I was certain I’d get along with this fellow. I was right. Jeff speaks with an earnest concern for the responsible growth of the city. He’s pro-business. He’s eager to grow and develop east Ocean Springs. Jeff speaks much about his views as a limited government, right of the aisle guy. He’s very much pro-property rights.
Jeff also acknowledges in the local municipalities it isn’t so much about the politics or the letter next to your name. It’s your community. It’s people you know. It’s people your children went to school with and where they currently reside. Party politics are irrelevant. Jeff is committed to fully serving his community. His commitment reiterated when he describes his desire to retire from civil service to give his full time to the City of Ocean Springs as a full time Alderman.
Jeff is another example of a resident with passion to brave the local political landscape in order to continue what has been a lifetime of professional service. He’s a welcome addition to the pool of other passionate and eager candidates in this year’s election.
I’m happy to welcome, Jeff Mortenson!!
